Magritte constantly gave new meanings to familiar things and challenged our notion of perceived reality.
Magritte's art depicts reality in a witty yet with a slightly disturbing twist. The feet are crafted from the 1937 original oil painting "The Red Boot." We thought these boot feet would make amazing candleholders! The man with the apple is an intriguing object from the 1946 self-portrait painting "Son of Man." Magritte's very famous painting entitled "The Treachery of Images" reminds us that "Ceci n'est pas une pipe" ("This is not a pipe") which seems a contradiction, but of course is true, the painting is not a pipe! Which reminds me of the old saying "Put that in your pipe and smoke it."
